Compass Precision Adds Key Leader to Corporate Staff
CHARLOTTE, NC – Feb. 17, 2026 – Compass Precision has made another significant addition to bolster its managerial staff to begin the new year.
Compass Precision, LLC, a Charlotte-based manufacturer of customer, close-tolerance metal components for mission-critical applications, announced Tuesday it has hired Dan Parry as Group Vice President.
“I think it’s a really interesting opportunity. I was drawn to the company because it was apparent the operating companies were very strong in their own right,” said Dan. “That creates a unique opportunity to build a scalable platform while preserving what makes each company successful. There are already successful businesses with a shared vision for what Compass can become together.
“I’m really excited to work alongside all the general managers and all the people at the various operating companies to continue building and cultivating that scalable platform that’s already in place.”
Dan spent the prior three years working in a variety of roles at Mastercam. Most recently, he worked on the Mastercam corporate development team, which parallels his new role at Compass.
Prior to Mastercam, he worked at Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence for 11 years.
“We were planning these changes to our staff anyway,” Bill said. “But with the record growth we experienced last year, it has become so important we continue to grow our Compass staff. Adding Dan will make us a lot stronger, particularly from a technological and engineering standpoint.”
Like the rest of Compass’ staff, Dan has years of machine shop experience. His experience dates back decades to when he deburred parts and loaded machines in his father’s shop as a teenager.
Dan began his working career in manufacturing facilities, running and programming machines. Through that time, he developed a strong connection to software implementation.
Dan then attended business school at the University of North Carolina. While completing a bachelors degree and masters program, Dan said he learned “what makes strong companies scale and sustain performance.”
At Compass, he plans to connect his early machining perspective with the commercial strategies and long-form platform development he’s learned throughout his career to help strengthen and scale the platform over time.
“What stands out most to me is the quality of the people across the operating companies. There’s a lot of capability and pride in the work being done, and that created a strong foundation,” Dan said. “But at the same time, there’s a real opportunity to connect those strengths across the platform so we can learn from each other, align where it makes sense, and continue building something that scales. That combination of strong local teams and platform-level potential is what makes Compass exciting.
“It really just comes down to wanting to leverage the teams and the capabilities that are in place to continue with the momentum.”
Once fully immersed in the job, Dan will offer assistance to all 10 general managers at each Compass operating company. To begin his tenure, Dan will primarily focus on the Compass machine shops located in the Charlotte area – Gray Manufacturing Technologies, Tri-Tec Industries, Quality Products & Machine and Advanced Machining & Tooling.
Dan said he was satisfied with his role at Mastercam but didn’t turn down a chance to hear about the opportunity at Compass when a recruiter contacted him in October. The more he heard about the role, the more Dan said he liked the opportunity.
Eventually, it became a role he couldn’t pass on.
Compass has a unique business model, which stood out to Dan during the hiring process. But he stressed it’s the people at the operating companies that make Compass special.
In his new role, Dan plans to balance introducing new ideas while preserving the autonomy that has made each operating company successful.
“There will be opportunities to introduce new ideas where it makes sense,” Dan said. “Although many things are already working well, the goal is to learn from those successes and apply them across the organization where appropriate.”
All Compass operating companies serve a diversified group of blue-chip customers in the aerospace & defense, space, semiconductor, medical, industrial automation, power generation, telecommunications, high tech, and specialty industrial markets.
In addition to expansion via acquisition, Compass has also grown significantly since its formation in 2019 by investing aggressively in advanced equipment and adding new customers drawn to the company’s mantra of “we do the tough stuff”.
